Castle Gardens Wedding | Jada & Jason – Kuna, Idaho
There are weddings that go exactly to plan, and then there are weddings that test you, surprise you, and somehow end up more beautiful because of it. Jada and Jason's wedding at The Castle Gardens in Kuna was the latter of the two types of weddings. Friday, June 26, 2026, threw everything at us, heavy rain, hail, wild wind, and somehow, in between all of it, we still got golden sun, dramatic skies, and a couple who didn't let any of it touch their joy.
This was also my first time photographing a wedding at The Castle Gardens, and perhaps it won't be my last. Between the Castle itself, the waterfall feature, and the sprawling landscaped grounds, this venue offers an incredible range of backdrops in one location.
Meet Jada & Jason
Jada and Jason brought so much intention to every detail of their day. Their wedding colors of wine red, white, black, and gold, set a rich, romantic tone that showed up everywhere, from the bridesmaids' wine-red gowns to the groomsmen's sharp gray ensembles.
Jada wore a fitted black lace gown paired with a gothic-inspired tiara and black veil; dramatic, elegant, and completely her own. Jason wore a kilt for the occasion, a nod carried through by his best man (his brother, also in a kilt) and even the officiant. Jason's sister stood by his side as his groomswoman, while Jada's three sisters stood with her, a wedding party that was clearly built on family first.
The officiant for the day held a role that made the ceremony even more meaningful: Jason's grandfather.
Rain, Hail, and a Tent in the Backyard
Weather in Boise can turn on a dime, and this day was proof. Before the ceremony even began, heavy rain and hail rolled through, which meant a quick pivot, the reception tables moved indoors, and our first look and full portrait session happened under cover of the tent in the Castle's backyard.
Honestly? It worked in our favor. The Castle Gardens' backyard is stunning on its own, with a feature waterfall and lush landscaping, and tucking in under the tent gave us a cozy, intimate backdrop while we waited out the storm.
As we moved into couples' portraits, the rain eased up and left us with moody, dynamic cloud cover. The kind of sky you can't fake or plan for, and one that made for some genuinely striking images.
Sunshine for the Vows
Then, right on cue, as if the day knew exactly when it mattered most: the clouds opened up. The ceremony took place in front of the Castle itself, under full sun and warm skies, for a very beautiful vow exchange and I had the honor of being the photographer.
Jada's father drove her to the top of the aisle, helped her out of car and walked her down the aisle to Jason, and the ceremony that followed, vows, and a handfasting, was a quiet, powerful testament to the kind of commitment these two are building their marriage on. After a morning of rain and hail, that pocket of sunshine felt like it was made just for them.
Another Storm
If you thought the weather was done with us, it wasn't. Partway through the reception, another storm system rolled in, this time bringing extreme wind, rain, hail, and weather alerts. Thankfully, the reception had already been moved inside, so guests stayed warm and dry. Reception dancing took place on the covered patio while the storm did its thing outside.
And once again, the angry clouds gave us some genuinely dramatic skies. You know, they say that rain on your wedding day is good luck. The storm is seen as washing away the past and starting fresh. Some believe that the storm has already passed for the newlyweds.

Why This Day Was So Special
This wasn't a wedding that went according to a script, it was one that adapted, again and again, and still delivered every bit of the magic Jada and Jason deserved. From ducking under a tent during a rain shower, to standing in full sun for their vows, to riding out a second storm on the dance floor, this day was a reminder that some of the best wedding photos come from the moments you didn't plan for.
The Castle Gardens gave us so much to work with. The Castle itself, the waterfall, the gardens, the landscape, and perhaps I will get to go out there again.
Congratulations, Jada and Jason. Thank you for trusting me with a day that turned out to be as unpredictable and beautiful as any love story worth telling.
XOXO,
Amy
