Wedding Wednesday-Tip of the Day

A wedding typically lasts 10 to 12 hours. If we are hired to start our day with you getting ready and are there all day, we try to eat a big breakfast before we arrive. The reality is that only lasts so long. We are often running around like crazy all day trying to cover the whole wedding. We typically don’t have time to snack or take a break. We’ve literally been known to run to the bathroom to cram down a sandwich or pretzels that we packed in a few minutes and then get back to work.

It is so wonderful when a couple offers to feed us at their wedding. It makes so we don’t have to leave to find a local food place or worry if what we packed was well insulated in the car. It doesn't have to be the expensive plated meal everyone else is eating. Did you know some venues and caterers offer vendor meals that you can get for your photographer? If you think about it, inquire when you consult with them.

Don't feel obligated to feed your vendors, but at the very least, expect them to take a break. It is important that we get a small break to eat during the day. This is preferably done during the reception when everyone else is eating, which works out because nobody wants to have photos feeding themselves, anyway. It is important your vendors eat because it is hard to stay creative on an empty stomach. Think about if you didn’t get a lunch break at work – it makes it hard to focus the rest of the day because you’re so hungry. Yes, I know be present to capture the entire day is what we were hired to do, but we are human and need to refuel. Please let your photographer know your arrangements about food and breaks ahead of time, so we know the plan. Thank you!

XOXO,

Amy

This is a guideline for any vendor who is with you all day, such as your photographer and day of coordinator.
