How to prepare for your Engagement photoshoot

Engagement Photography Session: Client Preparation Guide

Best Time of Day:

  • Golden Hour: We will schedule your session during the golden hour just before sunset for soft, warm lighting.
  • Avoid Midday: We try to avoid midday sun, as it can create harsh shadows; early morning or late afternoon is ideal.

Clothing Suggestions:

  •  Coordinate Outfits: Choose complementary colors and styles for a cohesive look.
  •  Comfort is Key: Select outfits you're comfortable in to ensure you look and feel your best.
  •  Avoid Distracting Patterns: Solid colors or subtle patterns work best to keep the focus on you. Additionally, there is a phenomenon called the moire' effect. It occurs when two patterns with similar but not identical details overlap, creating a third pattern that can appear as wavy or distorted lines. This visual phenomenon is often seen in digital images and can be both a fascinating display of interference patterns and a nuisance in photography and printing. Example is here.
  • Haircuts should be about 1 week before the photoshoot. If there is a mishap, there is time to grow it or fix it.
  • Your hands will be photographed. Make sure nails are clean and manicured, both women and men. Ladies make sure the artificial nail fits your entire nail.

What to Bring:

  •  Props: Consider items that are meaningful to your relationship, like a book you both love or a blanket from a picnic date.
  •  Backup Clothing: Have a second outfit on hand for a quick change of style.
  • Personal Care: Bring along a small bag with touch-up makeup, hair styling tools, and a mirror.
  • Remember the terrain of location we choose for your footwear choice. Ladies, you might need to bring and extra pair of shoes, in the event you are wearing heals or plan to be barefoot.

On the Day:

  •   Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before the session to ensure you look fresh.
  •   Rest Well: Get a good night's sleep to avoid tired eyes and to be full of energy.
  •  Arrive Early: Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early to relax and discuss any last-minute details with your photographer.
  • Have fun: Your engagement should be a fun, joyous occasion.

Remember, the most important thing is to be yourselves and enjoy the moment. This session is a celebration of your love and commitment to each other.
