Who knew having maternity portraits done would be an adventure? You might feel tired or sluggish with little energy to get through the day, let alone a photoshoot. I am going to give you some ideas to help you prepare for your photo session.

In the days leading up to your maternity session:

  1. Get as much of sleep/rest as possible. I know it might sound impossible, but nap when you feel tired and go to bed a little earlier.
  2. Eat foods that make your skin glow, a lot of sugary foods will make you look and feel sluggish.
  3. Keep hydrated! As normal, what you drink today, determines how you feel tomorrow.
  4. Do a little prenatal yoga, stretching, or even a massage! Ask your partner to do it if you don't want to schedule one.
  5. Get a manicure, both of you. Your hands are in your photos and focused on more than non-maternity photos.
  6. Practice your hair and make-up. Your skin and hair are different during pregnancy. Do you like your hair up or down?
  7. Treat yourself well! 

It might sound weird, but as you prepare for your maternity session, work a mirror to determine which angles you like best! Better yet: invite your SO to practice posing with you! And don’t worry, we’ll be there to make sure everything looks perfect on the day of your photo session!  Remember, if you don't know what to wear, we have a client closet with many gowns to choose from.
